Cummings Candy and Coffee House

While in Butler, Pennsylvania, I was sure to stop at Cummings Candy counter, one of the oldest such shops in the United States. Of course, these days more people stop by for the coffee, I think. But I made sure to pick up some peanut brittle for the road.

Funny Cake

My wife made me for the first time, the Pennsylvania Dutch treat of "funny cake." It is something I had often throughout my childhood and loved dearly, as one loves an old friend long gone. Now it is back in my life again, and my grandmother Jeanette's recipe has stood the test of time.
